An Awami League leader was shot dead by some unidentified miscreants in Pabna's Sadar upazila on Saturday night.

The victim was identified as Babu Sheikh alias Dak Babu, former president of ward no 9 of Giyeshpur Union of Pabna Sadar Upazila and son of late Ajahar Sheikh, reports UNB.

According to witnesses,  Babu was having tea at Jamal Sheikh's shop in  Naldah natun para area. Suddenly, some unidentified miscreants shot him, leaving him seriously injured.

Locals rescued him and took him to Pabna General Hospital, where doctors on duty declared him dead.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Pabna Sadar Police Station Roshan Ali said police have been dispatched to the scene.

The body was kept in Pabna General Hospital. “Details will be informed later”.
