DMP Additional Commissioner of Police (DB) Mohammad Harun-or-Rashid said Jhenaidah District Awami League General Secretary Saidul Karim Mintu will be investigated whether he was the financier and mastermind behind the murder of MP Anwarul Azim Anar.

“We don't call anyone unless we find a clear complaint in the investigation,” said Harun.

The DB chief said, “I got some information from the statement of killer Shimul Bhuiyan and Gas Babu. Because of this, Mintu was called and interrogated. He could not give any answer. He needs to be interrogated extensively. That is why we arrested him and handed him over to the court. Later, the court granted Mintu's 8-day remand.”

He said Saidul Karim Mintu will be remanded and asked how much he knows about the murder and why Gas Babu's mobile was taken will also be asked. Mintu will be asked why Mintu's representative Gas Babu met Shimul Bhuiyan after he came to Dhaka.

He said, “Jhenaidah District Awami League Relief and Social Welfare Affairs Secretary Kazi Kamal Ahmed Babu alias Gas Babu is in remand. Gas Babu has admitted meeting the main killer of Anar's murder several times. Shimul Bhuiyan worked for Aktaruzzaman Shaheen, while Gas Babu worked as Saidul Karim Mintu's agent."
