600 tourists stuck in Sajek due to flash floods

More than 600 tourists have been stuck in Sajek as torrential rains and flash floods snapped vehicular movement on the Baghaichari-Baghaihat road.

The Kachalong River has flowed over the boundary line due to landslides in Baghaichari upazila, causing suspended road communication at the Bailey bridge area on early Tuesday.

Baghaichari Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Shirin Akter revealed this information on Tuesday morning.

She said that the water of the Kachalong River has flowed over the boundary line due to landslides in Baghaichari upazila. As a result, Machalong Bazar, Baghaihat and Kabakhali area of ​​Dighinala upazila of Khagrachari have been flooded.

The UNO also said that due to the rising water of the Kachalong River adjoining areas of ​​Sajek went under water. At this moment, the road communication between Sajek and adjoining upazilas is suspended. That’s why the tourists are forced to stay in Sajek.
