ACC issues notice for asset statement of Benazir, Matiur

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has issued a notice seeking the submission of the assets statement of former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed and former NBR official Matiur Rahman and their families.

ACC Secretary Khorsheda Yasmeen said in a press briefing at the commission headquarters on Tuesday.

She said that notices have been issued to find out whether the members of these two families have any other assets apart from the seized assets, UNB reports.

Earlier on June 30, ACC has issued notices to NBR, BFIU, Directorate of Registration, BSEC, BRTA, Registrar of Joint Stock Companies And Firms (RJSC) seeking wealth statements of Matiur and his family.

ACC secretary said that after primary investigation it has been found that Benazir, his wife Zeeshan Mirza, and their two daughters have attained assets other than known income. There is information that there are more assets in the country and abroad in their name and anonymously. So, according to law, the ACC has issued notice for submission of the assets statement separately.

On the other hand, Khorsheda Yasmeen informed that they have issued notice to submit the wealth information of ex-NBR official Matiur Rahman, his first wife Narsingdi Raypura Upazila chairman Layla Kaniz, first wife’s son Ahamed Towfiqur Rahman (Arnab), daughter Farzana Rahman (Isphita) and second wife Shammi Akter (Shibli).
