85 bodies handed over to families

A total of 1,560 persons were brought to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for treatment as the aftermath of violence surrounding government job quota reform movement. 371 people have been admitted. Others left the hospital after getting first aid. Among them, 250 people have received eye treatment. Currently 175 people are under treatment in the hospital. Among these patients, 60 were declared dead by the doctors on duty after arriving at DMCH 33 people died while undergoing treatment. DMCH mortuary authorities handed over 85 bodies to the relatives after completing the post-mortem.

And since the bodies of the remaining eight have not been identified, they have been given to the voluntary organization Anjuman Mufidul Islam for post-mortem and burial. Apart from this, some bodies have been handed over to the relatives without the post-mortem.

According to sources at DMCH, 306 people were admitted to the emergency department of DMCH on July 15 after being injured in the violence surrounding the quota reform movement. 13 of them were admitted; 129 people bought tickets on July 16, of which 9 were admitted; On July 17, 65 people bought tickets, of which 8 were admitted. On July 18, 276 people bought tickets, of which 87 were admitted; On July 19, 482 people bought tickets, of which 155 were admitted; On July 20, 189 people bought tickets, of which 76 were admitted; On July 21, 93 people bought it, of which 20 were admitted and on July 22, 20 people had it, of which three were admitted.

According to DMCH Morgue sources, four people were autopsied on July 19; 24 on 20 July; 38 on 21 July; 10 people on 22 July; 12 on 23 July; On July 24, the postmortems of two and on Thursday postmortem of 3 were completed at the DMCH morgue. Among them, the bodies of 85 people have been handed over to their relatives. As the remaining 8 bodies were not identified, the autopsy was completed and handed over to Anjuman Mufidul Islam. Director of DMCH Brigadier General Asaduzzaman said that 175 people are currently under treatment in DMCH Hospital due to violence surrounding the quota reform movement.
