Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka was closed on Monday afternoon.
All operations at the airport were shut at 4:54 pm, Airport Director Group Captain Kamrul Islam confirmed the matter.
Earlier in the day, Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman in an address to the country's people said an interim government will be formed to run the country as Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has resigned from her post.Sheikh Hasina and her sister Sheikh Rehana left the country for India by a military helicopter on Monday afternoon.
