BNP leader Khandaker Mosharraf acquitted in money laundering case

A Dhaka court on Thursday acquitted BNP Standing Committee Member Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain in a money laundering case filed with Ramna Model Police station in 2014.

"Judge Abul Kashem of Dhaka Special Judge Court-1 handed down the verdict this morning in presence of Dr Mosharraf, as the accusations weren't proved beyond any reasonable doubt before the court," his attorney Taderul Islam Touhid told the media, reports BSS.

ACC Director Nasim Anwar filed the case as the plaintiff, alleging money laundering.

Charge sheet was pressed against him on August 14, 2014. On October 28, 2015, the court framed charges against him and the trial began. 

During the trial, 9 witnesses testified before the court.

During the trial, it was revealed that ACC investigation found evidence of smuggling more than 9.5 crore Taka in the UK's Lloyd Bank during his tenure from 2001 to 2006.
