Waters of 9 rivers in southern region  cross danger line

The waters of 9 rivers in the southern region are flowing over the territorial sea. Besides, the water of Kirtankhola river in Barisal is parallel to the boundary line and the water of Tentulia in Bhola and Payra river in Barguna is flowing close to the boundary line.

On Thursday (August 22) at 6:30 in the evening, Barisal Water Development Board Deputy Assistant Engineer Md. Tajul Islam said that the water flow of several important rivers of the department is monitored during the monsoon season. Among them, according to the latest report at 6 pm on Thursday, the waters of 9 rivers in the southern region are flowing over the boundary. Many areas have been submerged.

According to the Water Development Board, Jhalkathi's Bishkhali river is flowing 14 cm above the danger line. The water level of Bishkhali at Betagi upazila point of Barguna is 14 cm, at Surma-Meghna of Bholar Daulatkhan upazila is 71 cm, at Surma-Meghna of Tajumaddin upazila is 87 cm, at Payra river in Mirzaganj of Patuakhali is 3 cm, at Bishkhali river of Barguna Sadar upazila is 11 cm, at Patharghata upazila is 10 cm, at Umedpur point is 20 cm. Centimeters and the water of Baleshwar river in Pirojpur district is flowing 14 centimeters above the flood limit.

Tajul Islam said the water of 9 rivers has increased due to adverse weather conditions and inflow from India. However, there is no flood impact in the southern region so far.
