Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) President Hasanul Haq Inu was arrested from the capital’s Uttara area on Monday afternoon.
He has been implicated in several cases including murder filed over state-backed attacks on student-led protests from late July to early August.
Inu served as the information minister under an Awami League-led coalition government from 2012 to 2019.Earlier on August 22, Worker’s Party President Rashed Khan Menon was arrested in a killing case.
Inu and Menon are both the important leaders of the 14-party alliance.
