14 km long traffic deadlock in Dhaka-Chattogram highway on holiday

14 km long traffic congestion was seen in Siddhirganj Sanarpara area to Langalbanda area of Narayanganj in Dhaka to Chattogram highway even on Friday, which is weekly holiday in the country. The commuters and drivers have been undergoing serious suffering due to this deadlock. In addition, the vehicles are seen going slowly in other parts of the highway in Narayanganj.

At different points of the Dhaka-Chittagong highway, such a scene was seen, at 11 o'clock on Friday.

Due to the severe traffic jam, the passengers who have to go out for urgent needs had to suffer. It took them more than 1 hour to cover their 10 minute journey. Besides, children and old people are suffering more due to the heat since morning. Along with this, bus and truck drivers also had to stand still at the same place for hours.

A passenger named Mehdi Hasan said, “I left Shimrail to go to Comilla for an urgent job. Now I see heavy traffic on the highway. There are no reports of vehicles moving ahead. So I'm going back home.”

A bus driver named Khokon Mia said that there has been severe traffic jam on the highway for the past few days. Today the situation is the same even on holiday. It usually takes 6-7 minutes to reach Shimrail from the signboard. Now, It took about 50 minutes there today due to traffic.

Kanchpur Highway Police OC Rezaul Haque said that a car broke down on the highway in Langalband area around 7 am today. Besides, since the night, heavy traffic congestion is caused due to the high pressure of vehicles starting from relief vehicles. In the meantime, we have removed the wrecked car from the highway with a wrecker. Multiple teams of our highway police are working to clear the traffic jam. Hopefully, the traffic will be normal before noon.
