Awami League presidium member and former shipping minister Shajahan Khan has been arrested by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DB).

He was arrested from ​​the capital on Thursday night.

Shajahan Khan was elected Member of Parliament several times from Madaripur-2 Constituency. He is the Executive President of Bangladesh Workers Federation. In 1986, he was elected as a member of the National Assembly from Madaripur-2 constituency for the first time as an independent candidate. From the same seat, he was later elected as a Member of Parliament in the elections of 1991, 1996, 2001, 2008, 2014, 2018 and 2024 on the nomination of Awami League.
