Dilip Agarwala put on 6-day fresh remand in murder case

A Dhaka court on Thursday placed Diamond World Managing Director Dilip Kumar Agarwala on a six-day remand in a case filed over the killing of BNP activist Hridoy Ahmed during the quota reform movement in the capital.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mosharraf Hossain passed the order when police produced him before his court, seeking a 10-day remand for proper investigation, reports The Daily Sun.

Hridoy was shot to death in front of BRAC University at Badda in the capital on 19 July during the quota reform movement.

On 22 August, Shahadat Hossain, joint secretary of BNP’s Shibchar upazila unit in Madaripur district, filed a murder case against deposed prime minister Sheikh Hasina, her sister Sheikh Rehana, her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, Agarwala, and 156 other people at Badda Police Station over the murder.

On 4 September, Agarwala was remanded for three days in the case after his arrest.

A team of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested the controversial businessman from the Diamond World office at Gulshan on 3 September night.
