A youth was killed as a speeding bus ran over him while crossing the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in the Basan area of Gazipur City Corporation on Wednesday night.
The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.
Basan Police Station inspector (Investigation) Nandalal Roy said a bus of Balaka Paribahan was travelling to Gazipur from Dhaka. While the bus reached the Bason area, it ran over a passerby around 10:30 pm, leaving him seriously injured.The injured was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Protesting the incident, agitated locals torched three buses on the highway.
