Sheikh Hasina, the role model of economic freedom

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was the role model of geographical freedom of Bangladesh, and his daughter Sheikh Hasina is the role model of economic freedom of the country. With the continuous efforts of her government in last 13 years, Bangladesh has reached the revolutionary milestones in all index of development. The government of Sheikh Hasina has been completing its responsibilities very successfully. Bangladesh is in fourth place in rice and vegetable production, eighth in manpower export. Huge change has been initiated in industrial sector. Now, we’ve to take this development forward. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has chalked out delta plan over the tasks that would be done to reshape Bangladesh in next 100 years.

Many people ask what is the magic or secret of Bangladesh's rapid economic growth. Looking for the answer, various positive initiatives of the current government will come to the fore. One of them is the integrity of the honorable Prime Minister, who has a holistic philosophy in running the country. Above all there is the intelligence, honesty and self-less personality of five children of two sisters in their family. There has been a lot of discussion about this. But what needs to be discussed more broadly is the inclusive development policy strategy of the government of the humanitarian philosopher Hon'ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. This policy is not only contributing to the economic growth of the country, but also to ensuring sustainable development. Through the increased and multidimensional use of financial technology, Bangladesh has already achieved to a strong position in the Inclusive Development Index. Digital inclusion is causing systemic change in the financial system, which is essentially a catalyst for sustainable development.

After independence, under the leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, in 1972, to establish a modern state system, to formulate a constitution, to formulate a five-year plan for economic development, to create a skilled and educated population, National Education Commission under the leadership of Kudrat-e-Khuda started the journey by formulating education policy and adopting various initiatives, reforms, legal regulations, poverty alleviation etc. In just three and a half years, the war-torn country's damage recovery, reconstruction from devastation, resettlement of 1 crore people within country, economic and national unity to overcome natural calamities, floods, food shortages, etc. were raised to a level of possibility in 1975. Undoubtedly, the trend that Bangabandhu started with the formation of political and national unity was the plan and course of development and prosperity. The father of the nation had the ideal of creating a non-exploitative society, and for this he introduced economic social system reforms and a new style of politics of public awakening. How he wanted to see Bangladesh after independence was clearly reflected in his governance, political thinking and future goals and related speeches.

After the killing of Bangabandhu along with most of his family members on August 15, 1975, the characteristics of Bangladesh changed. Military rule lasted, Pakistan state ideology was revived in Bangladesh. That activities were continued by post-1975 governments till 1996. And for this, Bangladesh had not been able to determine any development strategy in the economy, and it had not been seen to carry out any comprehensive reforms to improve the quality of life and prosperity of the people. After the Awami League government was formed under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina in 1996, efforts were made to bring back the ideology of the liberation war. In Bangladesh development strategy, poverty alleviation, provision of social security, elimination of economic disparity, new strategies of production growth are adopted.

In the December 29, 2008 elections, the Grand Alliance under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina dreamed of transforming Bangladesh in socio-economic political-education-culture, science-technology, etc., with the slogan of 'Change of Days'. Originally, the struggle to build a prosperous Bangladesh began under the leadership of the humanist philosopher Sheikh Hasina. At times this progress has stalled under the storm of political uncertainty. But soon the previous speed was transmitted to the wheels of the economy. The wheel has started turning again. The garment sector has become known to the world as ‘Made in Bangladesh.’ Middle income and developing countries have already been recognized. There has been an enviable change in economic and social indicators. Bangabandhu satellite is orbiting in space bearing the red-green flag. In 1971, the population of Bangladesh was 7.5 crore. At that time 40 percent of food had to be imported from abroad. Currently the population is around 17 crores. But food does not have to be imported. Apart from this there has been a lot of development in the industrial sector. Currently, Bangladesh is the second largest garment industry in the world. Our position is after China. The same is the case in the service sector. According to her, we were systematically held back through discrimination. After half a century, the country that got the title of ‘bottomless basket’ by US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger's is now a role model of development in the world. The country was wounded by exploitation, deprivation and various injuries of Pakistan. Today Pakistan dream of making development like Bangladesh. Not only that, the example of Bangladesh's development was also drawn in their parliament.

Due to the implementation of the innovative thinking and enterprising attitude of the people of Bangladesh, the country has achieved economic growth, resource development, good education rate, health, reduction of child mortality rate, as well as achieving economic capacity, export income, foreign currency acquisition, foreign labor market, employment growth, public safety, elimination of social inequality in almost all indicators. Bangladesh has surpassed Pakistan. After independence in 1972, the per capita income of the people of the country was 129 dollars. Currently it has increased to 1 thousand 909 dollars. Education rates, modernization of medical system, per capita income and foreign exchange reserves have been increased. Significant progress has also been made in poverty alleviation. She said the purchasing power of common people has increased a lot in the economy of Bangladesh.

Economic and social development of the country is possible through planned education. Education builds and provides human capital in a country's economy, which economically plays an important role in the growth of agriculture, industry, services and other social production. Planned education is linked to economic development. The current government is working tirelessly to improve the quality of education, educational infrastructure, new curriculum, and to build a science-based society and ensure overall development of the country. How many examples have been created especially in the field of agriculture and development! Green Revolution, Agricultural Revolution - With these we are gradually moving towards market economy. Then the industry was developing, start with small industries. Gradually we developed major industries, especially the garment industry. The country is advancing at an unstoppable speed. Bangabandhu, the father of the nation, dreamed of a Golden Bengal, wanted economic freedom for the people, wanted to build a society free from hunger and poverty for all. Now, Bangladesh is moving forward on that path under the visionary leadership of his worthy daughter, the successful statesman Sheikh Hasina. The report titled 'The World in 2030: Our Long Term Projections for 75 Countries' shows that between 2018 and 2030, Bangladesh's economy will rise 16 levels in terms of ranking, which is more than any other country. In this list of economic development, the names of Philippines, Pakistan, Vietnam and Malaysia have come after Bangladesh. The report mentions that Bangladesh has more potential than the developed country Norway in terms of achieving growth. According to the latest global research of Hong Kong Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC), Bangladesh is going to become the 26th largest economy in the world in terms of gross domestic product (GDP) by 2030. Currently, Bangladesh is ranked 42nd.

Recently, the Honorable Prime Minister said, 'Our government is working tirelessly to build a hunger-poverty-free developed and prosperous Bangladesh by the year 2041. To this end we are implementing the Second Vision Plan (2021-2041) and giving priority to build a rich revenue pool. Along with this, we are working to build an information-technology-based, efficient, contemporary and people-friendly revenue administration through the necessary professional training.”

And achieving consistency in economic growth has strengthened the rural economy. Large remittances, around 4 million workers in the garment sector and the green revolution in agriculture have played a major role in reducing poverty and improving the livelihoods of rural and marginalized people. The government has also continuously increased the budget for social programs for the backward and the very poor. More than 40 percent of the country's extremely poor people are now under the scope of program, because the development results are not far-reaching if the poor people are not given proper employment. Sheikh Hasina's development-friendly government has given importance to this as well. Bangladesh is moving forward, will move forward.

Awami League is a people-oriented party. The aim of this party is not to enjoy power but to serve the people. The Awami League government under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina is serving the people with that goal and vow. Awami League did not back down from this duty. Awami League on the one hand carries the tradition of mass struggle, on the other hand runs the government with the vow of service. So, Sheikh Hasina is thecenter of all our dependence. Her strong leadership and visionary decisions will further enhance the prestige of the country. Bangladesh will be prosperous.

Joytu Sheikh Hasina! Joy Bangla! Joy Bangabandhu!
