Bashundhara Group stands by struggling families

Tens of thousands of poor people in the coastal belt of Galachipa have to fight against cyclones and other natural disasters. Their life standard is low. When these people confront trouble, nobody stands by them. Even assistance from Upazila Parishad is insufficient for them.

Many public representatives and affluent people fail to extend helping hands. In that critical moment, Bashundhara Group, the largest business conglomerate in the country, stands beside them. Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan is detecting helpless people through its social welfare organisation Shuvosangho.

I am impressed with the charities of Bashundhara Group Chairman. Serving humanity is the noblest work, which Bashundhara Group accomplishes in a befitting manner. Like other parts of the country, Bashundhara has been reaching out to the helpless and hapless in Galachipa for the last couple of years.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, the largest corporate body distributed food among the unemployed and marginal class in the upazila. I was present during the distribution of food, alongside the inauguration of Bashundhara Shuvosangho School in Char Agusti village of Galachipa. The largest business conglomerate is imparting sewing knowledge to 32 insolvent women through Bashundhara Shuvosangho training centre in Galachipa. Later, the trainees will get sewing machines free of cost.

Bashundhara Group is contributing to the social changes silently.

In addition, the industrial conglomerate offers houses to homeless people and distributes cows, goats and chickens to the unemployed to support their livelihoods. It also provides disabled people with wheelchairs. Bashundhara Shuvosangho schools are being operated in various parts of the country to provide education facilities to disadvantaged children.

Besides, poor talented students are given monthly stipends, and libraries are established.

Bashundhara Group has offered to bear the educational cost of two poor girls, Shotabdi Roy and Mitu Akter, hailing from Galachipa.

To protect ecological balance, tree plantation and making nests for birds are also initiated.

The noble deeds of Bashundhara Group are obviously a source of inspiration for others.
