The fifth Bangladesh Film Festival will begin in Kolkata on July 28.

The inaugural ceremony of the event will be held at Nandan in Kolkata.  

Actors Ferdous Ahmed, Dilara Hanif Purnima, singer Priyanka Gope, among others, will join the opening ceremony from Bangladesh, sources said, reports Daily Sun.    

As many as 45 popular Bangladeshi films will be screened during the four-day festival. 

Information and Broadcasting Ministry Additional Secretary Md. Faruque Ahmed told the media that they had a meeting on July 12 to select the movie. Initially, 45 films, including five documentaries and two short films have been selected for the festival.

Shakib Khan starrer film ‘Priyotoma’, Afran Nisho’s ‘Surongo’, ‘Laal Shari’, ‘Prohelika’, ‘Hawa’, ‘Poran’, ‘Rikshaw Girl’,‘JK 1971’, ‘Birkonna Pritilota’, ‘Radio’, ‘1971-Shei Shob Din’, ‘Nokshi Kathar Jamin’, ‘ Duhsahoshi Khoka’, Gunin, Beauty Circus, Daamal and Nona Joler Kabbo are the prominent among the films which will be screened at the festival.

Documentary films ‘Hasina: A Daughter’s Tale’, ‘Abinosshor’, ‘Ekti Desher Jonno’ ‘Chironjib Mujib, ‘Oamr Faruker Ma’ and ‘Dhor’ will also be screened at the event.

Information and Broadcasting Ministry of Bangladesh is organising the festival. 

Last year, the Bangladesh Film Festival was organised at Nandan-1. A total of 37 popular films from Bangladesh were screened at the festival.
