Will BNP participate in polls?

BNP is conducting simultaneous movement to press home their 10 pints demand aiming at resignation of government, dissolution of parliament and forming new election commission. The leaders concerned of the party said they’ll participate in the election by meeting up their demands. They believe the current political crisis will be solved only in movements on the streets.

Reporters of The Bangladesh Pratidin talked to the top leaders of BNP with a view to know their intention of participating in next national election.

BNP standing committee member Dr Khandker Mosharraf Hossain said, “BNP surely will participate in next national polls, but the election has to be held under non-partisan, non-biased government. We will not go to election under this government as it had already destroyed the electoral system of the country. Even, the justice department is also in control of the government. In this circumstance, they want to hold the power by an eye-wash election as they did it before. But, the people of the country won’t let it happen. A new enlighten history will be created in country’s politics by current simultaneous movement.

He said this on Monday while talking to the journalist of The Bangladesh Pratidin.

The member of BNP think-tank said as Bangladesh is in a very bad situation, so there’s no alternative except the resignation of the government. People of all classes have to take part in anti-government movement to remove this government.

Dr Mosharraf Hossain said, “There will be no election involving vote-rigging anymore in the country whatever efforts the government gives. The people will resist it. People of all class have becoming engaged in anti-government movement as the opposition parties have begun simultaneous movement. The first demand of BNP’s 10 point-demands is the resignation of government. However, no autocrat wants to leave the power easily. So, the people of the country will force them to leave it.”

He said, “The law-enforcing agencies have becoming defamed internationally by following the illegal order of the government. RAB got sanctioned by USA. In this circumstance, the people conveyed their message to the government that they don’t want to show them in power anymore and want a free-fair election.”

Another standing committee member of BNP, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury said, “We won’t go in any election under this government. However, we will only participate in election if it’s held under non-partisan, non-biased government. BNP won’t take part in election under current government to become part of implementing their plan of election rigging. However, the people of the country won’t let any election involving vote-rigging anymore.”

He said this on Monday while talking to the Bangladesh Pratidin.

Mentioning the election of 2014 and 2018, he asked questions whether these were any kind of election. Marking these elections as blatant example of vote-rigging, he said the people of the country will work as the watchmen if government wants to hold this kind of election in future.

The standing committee member of BNP said, “People of Bangladesh are confused now about their directions as well as the foreigners are worried about the country. To get them out of the situation, BNP proposed 27 points aiming at reconstruction of state, which will be very effective if its implemented.”

The BNP think-tank member said the government has plunged the country into deep crisis. To get out of the situation, we’ve to implement 27 points. This roadmap has also become accepted to the foreigners.

He said, “65 percent of the MPs are businessmen and they’re not becoming successful in making contribution to the political field. Even, they’re behind the money laundering activities. So, we think only those who are expert on different political and governmental subject, should go to the parliament.

BNP standing committee member and former state minister Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku said, “What if we get shot by taking part in election under this government as my wife got shot in in the national election of 2018? So, BNP won’t take part any election under these police, election commission and government. BNP will go to the election only by fulfilling their demand of holding election under non-partisan, non-biased government.

He said this while talking to The Bangladesh Pratidin on Monday.

He said the autocratic attitude of this government is so intense that I won’t participate in election even if my party wants to take part in it.

Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku said, “BNP will only take part in that kind of election where all the people can cast their vote independently and without any kind of barrier. We’re also making movement to establish the right to vote and democracy.”

The standing committee member of BNP said we hope to reestablish the right to vote of the people and we’re in movement to regain it. We held a meeting with Ganoforum yesterday. The simultaneous movement is going on and surely the people of the country will come out as winner.
