Fraudsters gang led by dismissed cops

Under the guise of Detective Police (DB), the fake DB members went after people withdrawing money from various banks, even prosecuted and intimidated the targeted gold traders and loot everything valuable.

Law enforcement officials said that the number of such fake DBs is more than two hundred across the country. However, these gangs are led by dismissed policemen.

According to souces, dismissed policemen include SI Jahangir, Bhuiyan Rashedul Alam, ASI Sohrab, Constable Golam Mostafa Shaheen and Kamruzzaman.

The number of these dimissed policemen whom are leading the gang of fake police is about 30 people across the country. Their network is spread across the country. The image of the police is fading. Not only because of police identity theft, many members of the police have been sentenced for various crimes.

Sources at the police headquarters said that from 2017 to August last year, 9,800 custodial sentences have been given to policemen on various charges.

However, Jasim Molla, 35, is one of the noticeable fake police. He used to introduce himself as SI without being a member of the police. Blackmailing big businessmen in different ways and extorting huge amount of money from them by in disguise.

Not only that, he has a group, who used to rob gold ornaments, money and other valuable assets under the guise of police in different areas of the country including Dhaka, Narsingdi, Shariatpur and Munshiganj.

RAB arrested Jasim Mollah on November 9 last year. His accomplices Zahidul Kazi and Yasin were aslo arrested.

Talking to Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police (DB) officers and reviewing various cases, the names of some of those who have been arrested on false DB charges in the last five years have been found.

They are Dulal Hossain, Ibrahim Mia, Badsha Mandal, Abul Kashem Ghazi, Noor Islam Sheikh, Shahidul Islam, Riyad Ahmed, Zakir Hossain, Babu Mia, Saiful Islam, Fazal Mia, Masood Karim, Kamrul Islam, Kabir Talukder, Kawsar, Raihan. , Shah Alam, Abdur Rahman Sajjad, Bablu, Al Amin, Abdul Hannan, Md. Ali, Ujjwal, Mamun Hasan Shaheen, Shahid Mia, Abdul Chagir, Kamrul Sheikh, Labloo, Abul Kalam Azad, Syed Ahmed Shaheed, Zahidul Islam Jihad, Ali, Jasim Uddin, Zamir, Yashin, Sabuj, Shahidul Islam, Abdul Malek, Sohag, Babu, Shah Alam, Babul, Sabuj Khan, Mintu Patwari, Russell Mollah, Iqbal Mia, Monirul Islam, Khokon Mia, Khairul Alam, Farooq, Elias, Faisal Islam, Sohan Shikder, Khandaker Latiful Haque, Tanveer, Sajid Ahmed Russell, Afsar Hossain Babu, Angel Samuel Costa, Harun, Zobair Hossain Parvez, Arif Hossain, Khokon Chandra Debnath, Farid Uddin, Parvez, Saiful and Nadeem, Shafiqul Islam alias Babul, Jasim, Nashir, Ashiqur Rahman, Shah Md. Dojahan, Mithun, Habibur Rahman, Shariful Islam, Nayan Mollah, Susen Mitra, Shahadat Hossain, Syed Monir Al Mahmud, Rubel Islam, Zakir Hossain and Piyush Sur.

Piyush was earlier working as a constable in the Narcotics Control Department. He was fired from there in 2017. One of the cases of money extortion happened in Dhaka University led by this dismissed policemen.

Mohiuddin Khan is a gold merchant in Newmarket area of the capital. Pathao took Tk 20 lakh from Tantibazar and left for Newmarket on September 3 last year. On the way, two people followed the businessman on a motorcycle.

At 3 o'clock that day, a Prado jeep barricaded the motorcycle carrying Mohiuddin in front of the main entrance gate of the Dhaka University Club. Three people got down from inside the car and identified themselves as members of law and order enforcement forces and took Mohiuddin from the motorcycle to the car.

They snatched Tk 20 lakh cash and mobile phone set with him. Later, the miscreants left him at a secluded place in Keraniganj area next to the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway and fled. This filmy style affair is led by a sacked policeman named Gholam Mustafa Shaheen alias Shaheen Police. This former constable was dismissed in 2008 due to various misdeeds. Then he got involved in robbery and robbery.

On the night of September 4, 2014, businessman Sharif Hossain Saymon was shot dead by robbers in Shantipur, Khilgaon of the capital. Israel Hossain, who was shot in the same incident, died in a hospital in the capital on April 1, 2016 after long treatment at home and abroad. The case filed in Khilgaon police station was later transferred to DB.

In 2017, the police filed a charge sheet against three people in the case of killing money exchange businessman Israel Hossain and his son Sharif Hossain Simon and looting Tk 38 lakh. Ghulam Mustafa Shaheen alias Shaheen Police was among the three charged. The other two were Sirajul Islam Shaheen alias Shooter Shaheen and Qazi Sirajul Islam Siraj.

Harun-ur-Rashid, chief of Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) said, “If someone says DB, don't get into their car, check first. If necessary, take the help of the surrounding people.”

Nur Mohammad, former Inspector General of Police (IGP) said, “Not only the police negative aspects of any organization are the bad aspects of that organization.”

“Using the name of the police to commit various crimes is not new. They have been happening for a long time. The police investigate each incident and uncover some facts.”

However, common people need to be aware in this case. If someone is approached by the DB Police, it is necessary to call 999, block the noise in the area or collect the number plate of the vehicle in which those people are coming.
