Bangladesh Pratidin turns 14

Bangladesh Pratidin, country's most circulated daily has completed its 14th year on Wednesday.

On the occasion of 13th anniversary and entering 14th year, a cake-cutting ceremony was organized at Bangladesh Pratidin office premises in Bashundhara residential area of ​​the capital on Tuesday night.

The chief guest of the program was Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud, Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir, Jatiya Sangsad Whip Abu Saeed Al Mahmud Swapan and Bangladesh Pratidin Editor Naem Nizam cut the cake.

Before this, on the occasion of the 13th anniversary of Bangladesh Pratidin, Minister Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud congratulated Sayem Sobhan Anvir, managing director of Bashundhara Group, with flowers.

Hasan Mahmud said, “I wish Bangladesh Pratidin family for completing 13 years and entering 14 years. Bangladesh Pratidin was founded by the Chairman of Bashundhara Group, Ahmed Akbar Sobhan.”

The newspaper has been carrying the spirit of the liberation war since the beginning, Bangladesh Pratidin is contributing to the construction of the country and at the same time, it is working as a mirror of the society. Bangladesh Pratidin is continuously trying to call white as white, black as black, truth as truth, lie as lie,” he said.

Regarding the progress of the country and the role of the media, the information minister said, “Bangladesh has surpassed Pakistan long ago in all indicators under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. We surpassed Pakistan seven-eight years ago in human development index, economic index, health index. We have also surpassed India in terms of human development index, social index, health index, per capita income.”

“In 2009 we were the 60th largest economy. It is now the 35th largest economy by GDP. Our aim is to move closer to the major economies of the world. I believe that Bangladesh Pratidin can and will play an exemplary role every day as the most circulated newspaper in the country in building a humanely prosperous state. Even after 100 years Bangladesh Pratidin survives. Let it act as a mirror of the society. Let him contribute to the development of the country,” he added.
