BNP to go for non-stop movements

BNP is ready to give ultimatum for the resignation of the government. From the rally going to be held in Dhaka on October 18, they will give this ultimatum to the government after waiting for some days. If their demands aren’t met, they will start their final movement after the occasion of Durga Puja is over.

The programs of BNP will be designed centering on the announcement of election cadastre by the Election Commission. Dhaka-based programs are on their priority list in this case. Movement programs like seizing the important government establishments, strike, barricades, even non-cooperation movements are in the planning of the party.

In this regard, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir told The Bangladesh Pratidin, "The road march and rally took place. Apart from all over the country, from now on all programs will be based in the capital Dhaka. This government's time is over. Hopefully the government will decide to resign within the upcoming Durga Puja. Otherwise people are ready to topple this government. If the government does not hand over the power to a non-partisan neutral government, the people will seize that power.”

According to the sources, BNP, which is on the verge of the final movement, wants a solution to the political crisis before the schedule of the national elections is announced. They want to initiate the final phase of their anti-government movement. After announcing the 'ultimatum', they will enter the field with the 'all out' program. For that purpose, grand rally will be organized and, Prime Minister's office, Ganobhaban and Secretariat will be seized in Dhaka. At least opinions have been given in favor of programs like the Dhaka siege along with taking stand in the court premises.

According to related sources, all levels of leaders and activists of Dhaka Metropolitan (North and South) BNP and surrounding districts have been asked to be fully prepared for the final program centered on Dhaka. According to the instructions of the high command of the party, the leaders and workers of BNP at all levels of Dhaka, Gazipur, Narayanganj, Munshiganj and Manikganj districts have been asked to be prepared.

According to the meeting of the party's standing committee, the BNP wants to take the movement to its final phase using the situation created due to the visa policy of the United States. This includes a program of giving memorandums to the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and the Inspector General of Police (IGP) in Dhaka. These programs will be implemented in stages this month before giving an ultimatum to the government.

In this context, BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury told The Bangladesh Pratidin, “People want to hear only one thing - when will this government lleave the power? If the government want to have a one-sided election, there will be strong resistance and through that resistance, the victory of the movement of the people of Bangladesh will begin, Insha Allah. Moreover, everything that needs to be done, all the programs that need to be given will be done for the downfall of the government.”

BNP has completed the first phase of the final movement program which started on September 19 with a one-point demand on October 5 through a rally and road march in Chittagong region. Among these, eight rallies of BNP have been held in the capital and surrounding districts. There have been five road marches. Apart from this, women's rally, workers', professionals' and students' convention along with farmer's rally were held in Dhaka. BNP policy makers have also evaluated these programs in the standing committee meeting.

Meanwhile, in the last meeting of the Standing Committee, besides the final movement program, the matter of threatment of party chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia was also discussed. Party policymakers feel that the government wants to make BNP powerless by using Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia's treatment abroad as a 'Chess Piece'. However, the chairperson himself has made it clear to his family and senior party leaders that she does not want to be used as a pawn.
