Rubel announces retirement from Test cricket

Bangladeshi pacer Rubel Hossain has announced his retirement from international test cricket on Monday in social media post.

He already informed Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) about his decision.

Rubel said, he decided to retire from the red ball cricket to give opportunities to the youth players. However, the pacer wants to continue T20 and ODI crickets.

The right arm pacer wrote on his Facebook status, "Assalamu Alaikum, I want to tell you something! Today I decided to retire from Test cricket by writing an official letter to BCB. Longer version tournaments play a pivotal role in strengthening the pipeline of the Bangladesh national team. I think the more opportunities young pacers get in these tournaments, the stronger our pipeline will be. So I have decided to retire from red ball cricket to give opportunities to young cricketers."

"I have been fortunate to play 27 Test matches for Bangladesh which is one of the achievements of my career. I am grateful to those people who have supported me at this format in international and domestic cricket. I hope to be with you in the upcoming days also," he said.

"I left the test cricket. However, I have the potential to give more to the team in ODI and T20 formats. So I will continue playing regularly in DPL, BPL and other white ball tournaments. Pray for me. May I give you colorful dreams for the rest of white ball journey," Rubel concluded.

Rubel has played 27 tests for Bangladesh. He took 36 wickets.
