Bangladesh champions of ICC Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier

Bangladesh won the ICC Women's World T20 Qualifier 2022  defeating Ireland by seven runs in the final match held on Sunday evening in Abu Dhabi of United Arab Emirates.

Both Bangladesh and Ireland confirmed their places in the World Cup going to be held in South Africa in February 2023 as they both went to final of the qualifier.

Winning the toss, Bangladesh chose to bat first. Fargana Hoque smashed 61 off 55 balls and took Bangladesh to 120-8 in 20 overs. Rumana Ahmed was the only other Bangladeshi batter to reach double-figure, scoring 21.

Laura Delany bagged three wickets for Ireland, while Cara Murray and Arlene Kelly took two wickets each.

In reply, Ireland scored 113-9 and lost the match by seven runs. They struggled from the very beginning, however resistance from the lower order took them to close to the target. Batting at number nine, Arlene Kelly scored 28.

Rumana Ahmed picked up three wickets for Bangladesh, while Sanjida Akter Meghla, Nahida Akter and Shohely Akhter grabbed two wickets each.
