Tigers defeated in 2nd consecutive match

Host New Zealand won by 8 wickets against visiting Bangladesh in the 3rd match of the Bangla Wash T20I Tri Series on Saturday at Hagley Oval, Christchurch in New Zealand.

New Zealand batter Michael Bracewell has become the player of the match.

Targeting 137 runs, the black caps reached their goal in 17.5 overs scoring 142 runs and sealed their first victory in the series.

Opener Devon Conway’s unbeaten 70 runs off 51 balls helped the host to chase the easy target.

Skipper Kane Williamson scored 30 runs from 29 balls and batter Glenn Phillips played extraordinary innings of 23 runs off 9 balls.

Pacer Shoriful Islam and Hasan Mahmud bagged one wicket each. Shoriful was too costly with a 10.20 economy rate in 3.5 overs. 

In the Bangladesh innings, opener Najmul Hossain Shanto scored 31 runs off 26 balls while wicketkeeper batter Liton Das scored 15 runs from 16 balls.

Another opener Mehidy Hasan Miraz scored only 5 runs off 5 balls.

New Zealand bowlers Tim Southee, Michael Bracewell, Boult and Ish Sodhi got one wicket each.

Tigers skipper Shakib-Al-Hasan played the match. He, however, couldn’t show his skill in the match.

The captain was not played in the first match against Pakistan as he was tired after a long journey from the US.

Bangladesh was defeated by Pakistan in the first match by 21 runs and surely will try to bounce back in its second match against New Zealand.

Meanwhile, New Zealand was also defeated by Pakistan in its first match on Saturday.
