Sri Lanka beat Afghanistan to keep the hope to go into semis

Sri Lankan defeated Afghanistan by 6 wickets in Group 1 match of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup on Tuesday to keep their hope of going into semifinals.

In the match held at Gabba ground of Brisbane in Australia, winning the toss Afghanistan elected to bat first.

Tight bowling from Lankan bowlers didn’t able Afghan batters to score freely. Openers Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored 28 off 24 and Usman Ghani scored 27 off 27, which were top scores for the team.

They didn’t accelerate the wheel of runs and scored 144 for 8 in 20 overs.

Lankan Leg spinner Wanidu de Hasaranga grabbed 3 wickets just for 13 runs in his quota of 4 overs.

In reply, attacking batting of one-downer Dhananjaya de Silva ensured easy win for Sri Lanka.  He scored 66 off just 42 balls.

Mujeed Ur Rahman of Afghanistan took 2 wickets for 24 runs.

For his brilliant bowling, Hasaranga was judged Player of the Match.
