Host India beat Afghanistan by 8 wickets against Afghanistan in their second match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium in India on Wednesday.

Chasing 272 runs India reached the target of 273 runs in only 35 overs.

Top-order batter Virat Kohli scored 55 runs off 56 balls while opener Ishan Kishan scored 47 runs from 47 balls. 

Rashid Khan bagged 2 wickets from the Afghanistan side.

Earlier in the first innings, Afghanistan collected 272 runs in 50 overs losing 8 wickets.

Skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi scored the highest 80 runs off 88 balls and middle-order batter Azmatullah Omarzai scored 62 runs from 69 balls.

Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah bagged 4 wickets while Hardik Pandya got 2 wickets.

Afghanistan won the toss and opted to bat first.

Rohit Sharma has become the player of the match.
