Bangladesh scored 211 runs in 44 overs by losing 8 wickets in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on Tuesday.     

In response South Africa’s 382 runs, the Tigers scored 211 runs till 44 over.

Mahmudullah Riayd got century off 104 balls while opener Litton Das scored the second highest 22 runs from 44 balls.   

South Africa’s Marco Jansen, Gerald Coetzee and Kagiso Rabada bagged 2 wickets each.

Earlier in the first innings, favorite South Africa posted 382 runs in 50 overs by losing only 5 wickets.

South African opener Quinton de Kock smashed 174 runs off 140 balls. This is the highest individual score in the ongoing World Cup.

At the same time, de Kock made three centuries in this tournament. Now he is the top scorer of the tournament followed by India’s Virat Kohli.

Captain Aiden Markram scored 60 runs off 69 balls while middle-order batter Heinrich Klaasen smashed 90 runs off 49 balls.

Bangladeshi bowler Hasan Mahmud bagged 2 wickets while Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Shoriful Islam, and Shakib Al Hasan bagged one wicket each.

Earlier, South Africa won the toss and opted to bat first.

Quinton de Kock has become the player of the match.

This is the fourth defeat of Bangladesh in a row out of their five played games. Tigers’ sole win against Afghanistan in the first match.
