Bashundhara Kings make flying start in BPL defeating Brothers 5-2

Defending champions Bashundhara Kings made a flying start start in the 10-team Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football beating Brothers Union Club by 5-2 goals in one of the four opening day's first round matches at their home venue --Bashundhara Kings Arena here on Friday, reports UNB.

Brazilian forward Dorielton Gomes struck twice for the Kings in the 58th and 61st minutes, local striker Rakib Hossain, captain Robson Robinho and forward Mohammad Ibrahim scored one each for Kings in the 8th, 89th and 90+4 minutes respectively.

Later, Rakib Hossain was adjudged the best player of the match.

Rabby Hossain Rahul and Uzbek forward Otabek scored one each for the Gopibagh outfit Brothers in the 69th and 90+2 minutes respectively.

In the day's another match, last time runners-up Dhaka Abahani Limited shared point with mediocre Rahmatganj MFS in 1-1 draw at the the Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni Stadium in Gopalganj.

Brazilian midfielder Jonathon put Dhaka Abahani ahead in the 21st minute.

Ghana forward Ernest leveled the margin for Rahmatganj in the 67th minute. Rahmatganj custodian Mohammed Nayem was adjudged the best player of the match.

In the day's other match, Dhaka Mohammedan SC beat Fortis SC by 2-1 goals at the Muktijoddha Smrity Stadium in Rajshahi.

Emon and Nigerian booter Emmanuel scored one each for the black and whites Mohammedan in the 14th and 90th minutes respectively while Omar netted the lone goal for Fortis FC in the 43rd minute.

In the day's other match, Bangladesh Police FC defeated Chittagong Abahani Ltd by 2-0 goals at the Rafique Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium in Mymensingh.

Colombian forward Edis Horacio scored both the goals for the Policemen in the 22nd and 43rd minutes respectively and was adjudged the player of the match.

Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club will play Sheikh Russel KC in the remaining first round match on Saturday (December 23) at 2:3O pm at the Bashundhara Kings Arena here.

The 2nd round matches will be held on December 29 and 30.

The BPL matches are scheduled to be held every Friday and Saturday of the week.
