Root hits double in Multan, becoming the most run scorer for England in Test

Just another day for Root, adding more numbers and records to his name

The English superstar scored his sixth Test double ton as he continued to dominate Pakistani bowlers on Day 4 of the first Test in Multan.

After scoring his maiden century in Pakistan, he got to his double hundred in 305 balls.

Root enjoyed a bit of luck as he was dropped on 186 by Babar Azam. Root made full use of it and pushed on as he played the best innings of his life on Pakistan's soil.

Scoring his sixth Test double ton, he passed Alastair Cook in the list of English batters with the most Test double-hundreds.

MOST DOUBLE HUNDREDS FOR ENGLAND

WALTER HAMMOND - 7

JOE ROOT - 6

ALASTAIR COOK - 5

LEONARD HUTTON - 4

Joe Root also became the first England batter to score 20,000 runs in international cricket. He is only the second active international cricketer after Virat Kohli to score as many runs across all three formats of the game.

Root became the 13th player and the first since AB de Villiers to surpass 20,000 runs in international cricket.

MOST INTERNATIONAL RUNS (ACTIVE PLAYERS)

1.VIRAT KOHLI - 27,041 runs in 535 matches

2.Joe Root - 20,000 runs* in 350 matches

Breaking records has become a habit for Root. Earlier on Day 3, Root went past Alastair Cook's total of 12,472 runs to become England's all-time run-getter in the Test arena.

When Root’s bat smiles, England smiles and it is evident as England is dominating the game.
